For cloud gaming, the network is part of the product. Every input must travel from the player to a remote GPU, be processed, encoded as video and returned to the screen quickly enough to feel immediate. A global platform with real-time constraints

Boosteroid is one of the world’s largest independent cloud gaming services. Its users can launch demanding PC games on devices that would not normally have the graphics power to run them locally. The computation happens in a data center; the experience happens in the player’s hands.

That model leaves almost no room for an inefficient route. Latency affects the time between an input and its visible result. Packet loss can become a frozen frame or a sudden drop in quality. Congestion appears precisely when demand is highest.

The network therefore has to deliver three things at once: short paths to end users, enough capacity for sustained video traffic, and resilience when a route or upstream changes.

From one French site to a multi-site platform

Boosteroid’s French deployment began in the Paris region and expanded across multiple sites. DC2SCALE’s account of the project describes capacity in PAR3 and PAR5, plus a Marseille deployment at MRS1. The additional locations brought compute closer to more players, created local redundancy and supported the launch of Boosteroid’s Ultra 4K offer.

This geography matters. Paris is a major interconnection hub for Western Europe. Marseille is a gateway to Southern Europe and to international cable routes reaching the Mediterranean, the Middle East and Africa. Connecting both regions creates a stronger platform than concentrating every GPU in a single location.

But distributed servers only improve the experience when the network between them and their users is engineered as one system.

Fiberway makes the infrastructure reachable

FiberTransit™ carries Boosteroid’s traffic across Fiberway’s Tier 2 backbone and onward to the wider internet. Dense peering brings the platform closer to the access networks used by players, while diverse upstreams preserve global reach. Capacity can scale with the GPU fleet instead of becoming its ceiling.

A 4K stream carries more data and is less forgiving of instability than a lower-resolution session. Multiply that stream by concurrent players and traffic patterns can move quickly: a new release, an evening peak or a regional event can change demand within minutes.

Fiberway’s backbone is designed for that kind of bursty, high-volume traffic. Direct peering shortens the route to many destinations. Premium transit covers the rest. Network-level DDoS mitigation filters attacks before they consume the capacity intended for players.

The result is a network that stays out of the way. Players see the game, not the infrastructure behind it. Boosteroid’s engineers can focus on GPU orchestration, encoding and the service itself instead of rebuilding connectivity for every growth phase.
